INTRODUCTION

 FWBEIDE525D-R5 is a FireWire800 (IEEE 1394b) to ATA devices bay with RAID 5 controller. FWBEIDE525D-R5 is ideally for tailgate interface applications for RAID 5 ATA HDD. It allows ATA drives to be connected to a 1394 serial bus in a plug-and-play fashion. 

FWBEIDE525D-R5 allows users to easily hot-swap ATA drive without interrupting the current operation. FWBEIDE525D-R5 provides the perfect solution for data backup and transferring of data between computers using ATA devices.

 FWBEIDE525D-R5 combines three key components:

  1. FireWire800 (IEEE 1394b) to ATA Bridge Board
  2. IDE RAID 5 Controller
  3. Mechanism and Power Supply

RAID 5

RAID 5 uses a mathematical expression that compares data from two drives and calculates a third piece of data called “parity”. Should one of the drives fail, parity data can be used to rebuild the failed data. Under RAID 5, parity data is stored across all drives in the array. This maximizes the amount of storage capacity available from all drives in the array while still providing data redundancy.
