1394 On-The-Go CD/DVD Duplicator Overview1394 On-The-Go CD/DVD Duplicator
(BB-U2FWEIDE525-2)

For FireWire stand-alone duplication: Daisy Chain two U2FWEIDE525 through FireWire port.

* If daisy chain two U2FWEIDE525-1, it will not have the feature of FireWire stand-alone duplication.

* If daisy chain U2FWEIDE525-1 and U2FWEIDE525-2, the host drive has to be U2FWEIDE525-2 and the target drive has to be U2FWEIDE525-1.

(Note. The board of U2FWEIDE525-1 must be modify to Ver:4.60 or later. By factory default, U2FWEIDE525-1 is set to Target and has no host/Target switch.).

* If daisy chain two U2FWEIDE525-2, set one to Host and the other to Target.

Duplication mode or PC peripheral mode will be set automatically when power

ON: if no computer is connected, the duplication mode will be set; if a computer is connected, the PC peripheral mode will be set Switches from duplication mode to PC peripheral mode automatically when connecting the FireWire cable to computer.

Supports DVD-R/RW, DVD+R/RW, CD-R/RW.

Provides two STATUS LEDs: “OK!” and “NG!”

(Only U2FWEIDE525-2 have “OK!” and “NG!” status LEDs.)

Provides two Switches: “Host/Target!” and “Simulation Test!”

(Only U2FWEIDE525-2 have “Host/Target!” and “Simulation Test!” switches.)

Ejects the tray of host drive and target drive automatically in duplication mode when power ON.

Starts duplicating operation automatically by closing the tray of target drive.

(Note . It is suggested to close the source tray before the target tray .)

When on PC peripheral mode, Simulation Test switch, Host/Target switch, and Status LED will not function.

When operation encounters abnormality, reset the system with one of the following ways:

1). Press the eject button on the target drive twice.

2). Turn off the POWER by pushing the POWER button.

Hardware Definition and Operation

Switch

- Simulation Test Switch

If the simulation switch is on, the host bridge automatically starts the simulation test mode on the target bridge. During the simulation testing, the target bridge performs writing without turning on the laser.

Therefore, data will not be written onto the target media. If any error detected during the simulation test, both disks will be ejected. If duplicated successfully, only the target’s will be ejected.

- Host/Target Switch

For FireWire stand-alone duplication, daisy chain two U2FWEIDE525-2 and set one to Host, the other to Target. Set the Source drive as Host. Target drive as Target.

a. Source Medium Malfunctions

If the source medium malfunctions, the source drive will eject source medium first , then the target drive will eject the target medium and the NG LED will be activated (LOW).

b. Target Medium Malfunctions

If the target medial malfunctions, the target drive will eject the target medium and the NG LED will be activated (LOW).

c. Source medium and Target medium are in different formats

If the source media and target media are in different formats, the target drive will eject the target medium and the NG LED will be activated (LOW).

Example: CD in source drive and DVD in target drive or vice versa.

d. If there are CSS\CPPM\CPRM protection on source Disc the target drive will eject the target medium and the NG LED will be activated (LOW).

- OK LED: ON when duplication done successfully

The OK LED will be turned off when a new duplication process starts.

When in PC peripheral mode, Simulation Test switch, Host/Target switch, and Status LED will not function.
