Think of FireNet, the future today!FireNet 1394 Networking

FireNet is an innovative software networking solution which provides High Speed Local Area Networking, at 400Mbps. It beats the fastest available alternatives Hands Down (Fast Ethernet 100Mbps).

A tree topology, and true plug 'n' play capabilities allows FireNet to offer the ability to connect, disconnect, and reconnect new PCs (and/or peripherals) to the network, in the same or a different topology, even while data files are being transferred. Work continues as though nothing has happened!

FireNet operates by performing completely transparent Ethernet emulation. This way it provides support for all networking protocols that run over Ethernet (TCP/IP, IPX/SPX, NetBEUI etc).

FireNet uses a 1394 adapter that runs at 400Mbps. In the next couple of years new 1394 adapters will become available that will run at 800Mbps, 1600Mbps, and finally at 3200Mbps.

One can easily upgrade to these higher transfer rates, by simply replacing the adapters with newer ones. Once more, the adapter upgrade doesn¡¦t need to be done all at once, but can be performed gradually. Newer and faster adapters will remain compatible with previous 1394 adapters, because FireNet™ is inherently designed to take immediate advantage of higher 1394 transfer rates as they become available.

No hassles, no expensive hubs, and no terminators are needed or used. Low cost cables, and inexpensive 1394 adapters, offer a unique combination of productivity and low installation cost, bringing a fast return on investment.

FireNet is easily installed and configured through the network Applet in the Control Panel, like all standard network adapters.

Changing over an entire network, it involves a considerable amount of administration and risk. A trained personnel is required, and network down-time cannot usually be avoided. Because it is a plug -n-play network, none of the above apply to FireNet. A 1394 adapter can be installed on the file server and work in combination with the existing network technology. Then, the workstations can be switched into the FireNet segment node-by-node, without having to change their TCP/IP addresses and without shutting down the server.

Both network segments can run independently for as long as needed. These two segments will form a single logical network, as if you had two Fast Ethernet hubs connected to the server.

You can improve and optimize network performance at any time, by simply adding another adapter to the server, and then split the network in two. All this can be done by adding another adapter on the server.

Last, but not least, let's remember that FireNet is a 1394 network. This means that you can also connect other 1394 devices to this network (printers, digital cameras & videos, etc.) and use them directly from any PC on the network bus.

FireNet Highlights:
  • The next generation of our innovative 1394 networking product.

  • Provides High Speed Local Area Networking at 400Mbps.

  • No hassles, no expensive hubs, and no terminators are needed.

  • Supports all networking protocols that run over Ethernet

Example of networking using FireNet:
  • Connect 5 PC's together and show them how a small 5 PC's network can nicely work over 1394.
  • Use an Win2000 Server and four Win98/2000 clients. Put a modem on the server and have all station access it.  No Hubs. Simple plug and play...!!!!
  • Only one Modem and one email address then you can have all the clients go into the Internet simultaneously.
